McGovern Automotive Group, a Newton-based group of automobile dealerships with locations throughout the Northeast, has announced the opening of McGovern Hyundai of Milford, following the company’s acquisition of Imperial Hyundai.
McGovern’s Milford location is the company’s 29th dealership, according to a press release issued Monday, following a string of acquisitions that has seen McGovern purchase Jaguar Land Rover Peabody, Genesis of Queensbury, New York, and MHQ of Marlborough in 2023.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing the McGovern brand to Milford, and we’re looking forward to giving discerning local drivers the unbeatable service and great deals they crave,” John Kennedy, McGovern regional VP of operations, said in the release. “It’s been an incredible few months for the McGovern Auto Group, and we couldn’t be more excited about what we have in store for the coming year.”
The company also announced in the release that it has achieved over $2.2 billion in revenue so far in 2023, selling over 36,000 new and used vehicles in that timeframe.
“Our path to becoming the region’s top vehicle retailer is due to the dedication of our team from top to bottom” Matt McGovern, CEO and founder of the company, said in the statement. “We work tirelessly day in and day out to have the best selection of vehicles, best prices, and the greatest service and parts departments not just in the Northeast, but across the country.”
In addition to purchasing a number of existing auto dealerships, McGovern has also been acquiring other properties; the company added to its Acton holdings by purchasing a restaurant property in August and later purchased a neighboring office building in October. The company is also constructing a new collision center at 420 Boston Turnpike in Shrewsbury.
McGovern employs over 1,600 people, according to the release. The company was founded in 2016 by Matt McGovern, who formerly worked as a vice president at Westwood-based Prime Motor Group, according to McGovern’s LinkedIn page.
