Red Tail Heights in Devens, a 26-acre parcel of land overlooking Red Tail Golf Club, was sold by MassDevelopment for more than $3 million in early November, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds.
Located at 16 Bulge Road in Harvard, the property is an “ideal build-to-suit for corporate needs,” according to MassDevelopment’s website, able to accommodate 250,000 square feet of buildings.
The parcel was bought by Scannell Properties, an Indianapolis real estate firm. According to a filing in May, Scannell plans to construct a 150,843-square-foot pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Red Tail Heights.
Scannell has made other large investments in the Central Massachusetts region. In September, the firm purchased a 70-acre parcel in Uxbridge, Sutton, and Douglas for $5 million as part of a plan to construct a technology park.
MassDevelopment, the state’s economic growth organization, specializes in redeveloping surplus government property into revenue-producing assets used by businesses, per its website. It is responsible for the redevelopment of the Devens Army base, which closed in 1996, into a 4,400-acre mixed-use community.
