Newly revised totals for confirmed and suspected coronavirus cases and deaths on Monday pushed Massachusetts beyond 100,000 cases, the fifth state to reach the milestone.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health increased coronavirus cases and deaths with probable cases dating back to March 1 in accordance with guidance from the Centers of Disease Control. The new cases and fatalities Monday are a retrospective review that added to the total tally.
The state said it is now including probable cases for those who haven't been tested by a standard viral test but received a positive antibody test, had symptoms or were known to be exposed to a positive case.
Coronavirus cases in Worcester County increased by 334 new cases and 12 new deaths Monday. New cases added in Worcester County increase the total to 11,352 to date.
Statewide, the revised number increased the states tally significantly to 100,805, with 3,840 new cases reported. In comparison, the confirmed cases increased the number in the state by 326, while 3,514 probable cases were added.
Statewide, the death toll increased by 48 cases who were tested, while 141 probable coronavirus deaths were included, bringing the tally to 7,035. Worcester County fatalities increased the total to 779.
The City of Worcester reported another low increase in coronavirus cases with 15 on Monday, the lowest since May 26, bringing the total to 4,204.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester report 142 new confirmed cases, and 53 in intensive care. Between the hospitals, 335 employees have tested positive for the virus.
MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick report 39 confirmed or suspected cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reports 13 according to DPH. In total, the hospitals report 11 cases in the ICU. Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital, and HealthAlliance in Leominster report 24 suspected or confirmed cases and seven in intensive care.
Nationally, there are 1.8 million cases, and more than 105,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Globally, there are more than 6.2 million cases and roughly 375,208 fatalities.
