Mass. re-launches job platform for employers to post positions in key industries

More than a year after it originally launched, the state’s online job platform MassTalent has officially gone live with enhanced search options and resources.

The portal allows employers to post open jobs and search for candidates in the high-demand industries of manufacturing, clean energy, health and human services, life sciences, and technology while providing job seekers a singular platform to search available positions.

The initiative is a strategy of the Gov. Maura Healey administration’s Massachusetts Workforce Agenda aimed at attracting and retaining talent in positions throughout the state, according to a Monday press release from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The Healey Administration originally announced its intent to implement MassTalent in June 2023 to streamline government resources to better connect employers and job seekers in high-demand, high-growth industries.

MassTalent is formatted similarly to other online career portals such as Indeed and CareerBuilder. MassTalent shows the 400 most recent job listings in each of the five sectors with the ability to filter by factors including location, job category, and remote opportunities.

“MassTalent is set to serve as a crucial front door for both employers and jobseekers, making it easier to navigate employment opportunities across the state,” Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll said in the release. “We’re bringing together resources from across the administration to make it easier for jobseekers to get the information they need to connect with businesses who are looking to hire.”

MassTalent’s launch comes as Central Massachusetts experienced its highest unemployment rate in a year in July at 4.6%. The region has seen the numbers steadily fall, with unemployment rates falling to 3.6% by September.

EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article stated the MassTalent job platform had been launched Monday. The platform was instead re-launched on Monday with enhanced features.
