Marlborough Co. Gets $10M In Venture Capital

Xtalic Corp. of Marlborough has raised $10 million in venture capital financing from Matrix Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners and an investment consortium led by James Wolfensohn, a former head of the World Bank.

The company was created in 2005.

The money will be used to help the company further commercialize and sell its tailored nano metal coatings to industrial and electronics markets.

The company has patented a method of keeping the structure of the metal coatings consistently small, making them easier to apply by an electroplating process.

Their coatings are a replacement for hexavalent chrome, which is widely used metal coating that is heavily regulated because of health risks to workers, according to the company.
