Local Attorney Honored For Educational Publishing

The founding partner of Fitchburg-based law firm Ciota, Starr & Vander Linden has been chosen to receive the Scholar-Mentor Award from Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Inc.

Emily S. Starr, a founding partner at the firm, is one of four recipients of the annual award. The award recognizes those who make volunteer contributions to legal education. Ciota Starr also has an office in Worcester.

Starr and Newton attorney Donald Freedman conceived the three-volume "Estate Planning for the Aged or Incapacitated Client in Massachusetts." The elder and disability law publication is in its third edition and is published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.

Freedman was also presented with a Scholar-Mentor Award. MCLE is a joint venture of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association.
