A new Stafford Street bar is closing tonight in Worcester.
Soprano’s-themed Stogotz Tapas Restaurant & Piano Bar will have its last call Friday after less than a year of business, according to a post on its Facebook page.
The bar opened in February, according to its Facebook page, and featured live music, karaoke, and other events. Its owner, Worcester resident Justin Kazmierczak, previously told MassLive the bar was meant to cater to the 40-to-70 crowd.
The bar is located at 120 Stafford St. in Worcester, part of a strip mall including a Subway restaurant, a hair salon, and an Aaron’s furniture store. Kazmierczak leased the property, and said he put a significant amount of money into renovations.
On the bar’s Facebook post, commenters said they had not heard of the bar.
"It’s funny how many people I hear say, after we said we were closing, they didn't even know they were there," said Kazmierczak.
Kazmierczak said the restaurant portion of the business never got fully off the ground. The location or type of bar may have been factors in its difficult run, he said.
The bar is roughly three miles from the Canal District, which saw turmoil for the bar and restaurant scene in 2022.
