Career highlights:
I am currently publisher of The African Radiant, a monthly publication. I also run the African Community Development Corp. in Worcester, which serves as an information clearinghouse for immigrants, providing information on health care, housing, and other issues. I started the ACDC in 2004. The organization is partly funded by the City of Worcester.
Prior to starting the ACDC, I was a  technical consultant for SatCon at its branch in Marlborough. I also conduct cultural training at UMass Medical School, educating doctors and other staff on how to work with African clients.
I’m originally from Ghana, and have been in the U.S. for 11 years. I originally moved to New York, but settled in the Worcester area.

Community involvement:
I am a board member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at UMass Medical School, which reviews and approves most of the research done in the medical school through a committee. I serve as a board director to the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts, serving on its workforce development committee. I am also a board director to the Legal Assistance Corp. of Central Massachusetts. I serve as the co-chair of Worcester’s Immigrant Coalition. I am also a member of Worcester’s Infant Mortality Task Force, and the state Department of Public Health’s Massachusetts Emergency Communication Taskforce.

Biggest success:
Founding the African Community Development Corp., Radiant News and advocating for immigrants via the Worcester Immigrant Coalition.

Dream job:
My dream job would be turning Radiant News into a multimillion dollar empire.

Businessperson he most admires and why:
I most admire Gordon Hargrove of Friendly House Inc. in Worcester, a community-based, human services organization, because he has the passion to help people.
