Career highlights:
I own/operate Craftech Restoration, an insurance restoration and mitigation company. After a fire, flood, furnace malfunction, or any disaster in your home or business, we dry, clean and restore your home to the condition it was in prior to the occurrence. I attended Fitchburg State College where I received a degree in business management. Through college, I worked for myself as a handyman/property maintenance contractor and after graduation began advertising my services and contracting full-time.
One of my customers, Gerry Tello, was the owner of Craftech Restoration at the time and was ready to retire after owning and operating the business for 32 years. Gerry and I began talking about the sale/purchase of the business. I purchased the business in February of 2003 with 90 percent owner financing.
Community involvement:
I regularly donate to several local organizations, Upton Men’s Club, Nipmuc Regional High School, high honors dinner, hockey association, soccer scholarship fund, after prom party, Mendon Upton Youth Soccer Association, Hopedale, Milford & Grafton Fire Fighters Association, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and the Boston Breast Cancer Three-Day.
Biggest success:
My biggest success so far is that I truly enjoy going to work each day. I am lucky to have talented people working with me and that makes the labors of small business ownership not just tolerable, but enjoyable. This year the business will generate revenues four times greater than it did when I purchased it four years ago.
Dream job:
My ultimate job would be to own/manage three to four small businesses that compliment one another and are systematized to operate in my absence.

Mike Dalton, owner of Advanced Diesel & Advanced Utility Service (Melbourne, Fla.) Mike has built several small businesses on his reputation and quality of service. He has shown me that consistent, quality decision making along with honesty and integrity, drives a business to success.
