Insulet, a maker of wearable insulin devices, has paired with one company to integrate automated technology and with another to commercialize existing and future products.

Acton-based Insulet is now working with Abbott to integrate the Illinois medical device company's glucose-sensing technology with Insulet's tubeless insulin pump technology. The device will be controlled through a phone app that's offered as part of Insulet's Omnipod Horizon System, which is in clinical trials.

Glucose data, which can tell a patient their blood sugar levels, is sent from a sensor directly to the insulin-delivery pod. The device is capable of automatic insulin delivery or can be done manually.

In a separate agreement, Insulet has formed a commercialization partnership with DexCom, a San Diego diabetes care firm. The non-exclusive deal combines Insulet's insulin delivery system with DexCom's products to predict glucose levels and automatically adjust required insulin doses to maintain ideal blood sugar levels.

Both new partnerships were announced Feb. 19. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
