Iconic hotel in Sturbridge sells for $4M

The Sturbridge Host Hotel & Conference Center has sold for just over $4 million to a buyer from Connecticut.

The buyer is a limited liability corporation registered to Renuka Yogesh Patel and Yogesh Patel of North Stonington, Conn. The seller was a limited liability corporation registered to the Baltimore address of Milestone Hospitality Management. Milestone Hospitality Management bought the site in 2005 for $15.5 million.

The sale closed Jan 24.

A message left for the new owners wasn't immediately returned.

The 232-room hotel and conference center at 366 Main St. was built in 1981 and includes 35,000 square feet of event space and 180,000 square feet of space in all. The site totals 15 acres and was last assessed by the Town of Sturbridge at nearly $12.7 million.

It's too bad this new owner chose to let go of long-term employees, one who had been there for 31yrs, because they’re going in a different direction. The only good thing about it were the employees, most of whom have moved on to new opportunities. It’s too bad, that place used to be great.

The Host was formerly known as the Sheraton Hotel,was built in the late 60’s, and was the go to place to go dancing on Saturday nights to popular bands, which most of us did in the mid-70’s!
