EyePoint Pharmaceuticals has selected Hopkinton-based Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects to design its 40,000-square-foot facility in Northbridge. The Watertown pharmaceutical company previously announced it would build out manufacturing operations for its severe eye disorder therapeutics at the new facility.
Boylston contractor RP Masiello has signed onto the EyePoint project, and Tampa-based Phoenix Engineering will be involved as process engineering support. Construction will begin this summer, according to a Tuesday press release from GRLA. The facility will be equipped with clean manufacturing space, research labs, warehouse space and offices.
Local labor is expected to be employed in the construction process, but complete details of the arrangements are not yet finalized, according to GRLA. Allen Engineering & Associates of Hopedale are civil engineering consultants, Yankee Engineering & Testing of Worcester are geotechnical consultants, and KPB Engineering of Charlton at structural engineers on the project.
When operational, which is expected to be in mid-2024, the facility will have approximately 45 employees to start, with plans to continue growth as operations get underway, according to a previous statement from EyePoint to the WBJ.
