The College of the Holy Cross, whose comprehensive fundraising campaign “Become More” has crossed the halfway mark, has won a 2015 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) educational fundraising award.
Holy Cross received an Overall Performance Award for 2015, which is given based on an analysis of three years of fundraising data.
The college said Monday it has raised more than $200 million toward the goal of $400 million for the campaign, which is designed to advance and enhance all aspects of life at Holy Cross. The school received the largest single gift in its history this year, $32.5 million, from alumnus John E. Luth, ’74, and his wife, Dr. Joanne Chouinard-Luth, D.M.D, to improve indoor athletics and recreational facilities. Another standout contribution came in 2013, when Cornelius B. Prior Jr., ’56, donated $25 million for the enhancement of the arts.
The CASE award “is a tremendous honor for the Holy Cross Advancement team, but more importantly, for our remarkably generous alumni, parents and friends who support the college and for the devoted group of volunteers who partner with us to ensure our collective success,” Tracy Barlok, vice president of advancement at Holy Cross, said in a statement.
Holy Cross noted that in May, the college broke ground on the Contemplative Center and has raised $18 million of the $22 million construction cost. It is expected to be up and running in September of 2016. Other progress in the campaign includes $30 million raised toward a new performing arts facility; the college recently reviewed schematic drawings. Money raised will also go toward financial aid, faculty resources, internships and other programs.
