When Mary J. Blige embarks on the first leg of her Good Morning Gorgeous tour in September, she’ll be doing so with the sponsorship of Marlborough-based Hologic, Inc.
The women’s health medical technology company said it was partnering with Blige, a grammy-award winning hip-hop soul artist, in order to help raise awareness for women’s health and for women to get screenings for breast and cervical cancer, according to a Wednesday press release from Hologic.
“As a global leader in women’s health, we’re committed to emphasizing the lifesaving importance of preventive screenings and the annual Well Woman exam, and Mary’s voice is a powerful way to reach millions of women,” Hologic President & CEO Stephen MacMillan said.
It’s not the first time Blige and Hologic have teamed up together. Earlier in the year, Blige was featured in a Hologic commercial that first aired on Super Bowl Sunday. Blige has appeared on a Hologic-sponsored panel for Black Women’s Health Imperative, discussing how Black women tend to have higher rates of breast and cervical cancer.
Blige’s Hologic-sponsored tour will begin on Sept. 17 in Greensboro, N.C. and end on Oct. 29 in Atlantic City, N. J.
