Bean Counter Bakery Café, a business with locations in Worcester and Shrewsbury, has reopened its original Highland Street location following renovations.
The renovations, started in January, were done with the purpose of aligning the location with the brand's identity established at its flagship location on Grove Street in Worcester, according to a press release issued on March 6. Started in 1998 in the kitchen of Founder Alice Lombardi’s home, Bean Counter opened the Highland Street location as its first physical storefront in 2001.
"Our journey from a home kitchen to the heart of Worcester has been incredible. This renovation is a testament to our commitment to providing not just delightful treats but an unforgettable experience for our cherished customers,” Lombardi said in the press release. “We are thrilled to invite everyone to experience the new and improved Bean Counter Bakery Café.”
The business will mark the Highland Street reopening with a ceremony at 1 p.m. Wednesday. In addition to the Highland Street cafe, Bean Counter has locations on Grove Street in Worcester and on Route 9 in Shrewsbury.
Bean Counter was selected as the Best Locally Owned Place to Meet for Coffee by WBJ readers as part of the 2024 Best of Business Awards.
