The town of Harvard is getting 75 new solar installations on the rooftops of homes and businesses thanks to a pilot program from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
Four communities in Massachusetts took part in the Solarize Massachusetts program, working with different installers. Harvard's installations were done by New England Breeze Solar of Hudson.
The program used a model in which participants could get more favorable installation prices as a community reached particular milestones for the number of people signed up. Community volunteers helped spread information about the program.
Harvard's total installations through the project add up to 402.56 kilowatts of new capacity in town, more than twice as much as those from the other three communities.
New England Breeze Solar said in a statement that it is especially proud of the results since both the company and the town are smaller than the other installers and communities.
