The latest quarterly Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative auction yielded more than $83.4 million in funds that will be used for energy efficiency and job creation efforts, according to World Energy Solutions of Worcester, which runs the auction.
World Energy has managed the auctions since they began in 2008. Companies can purchase “allowances” to emit carbon dioxide.
The 10 participating Northeastern states sold 42 million current allowances and 2.1 million future allowances, for $1.89 each.
