February Unemployment At 8.2%

The state’s unemployment rate fell slightly to 8.2 percent in February while the economy added 15,400 jobs, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

Unemployment was down from 8.3 percent in January, and from 8.8 percent in February 2010. It was also lower than the national 8.9-percent rate.

The state gained the most jobs in education and health services. Other industries adding jobs were leisure and hospitality; professional, scientific and business services; trade, transportation and utilities and financial activities.

Manufacturing, construction and government sectors all lost jobs.
