Developer Charles Zammuto is proposing a second multifamily development in Framingham next door to where construction is wrapping up on his 16-unit project on the southern edge of downtown.
Zammuto, of Legacy Construction of Newton, is already building a three-story, 19,000 square-foot residential building at 68 South St. Now, he's proposing an 8-unit development next door at 74 South St.
Both projects would match each other in style, bringing a more modern, rowhouse-like look to an area of the city that's still largely a mix of low-slung commercial or industrial buildings and older multifamily homes.
The proposed three-story building would be built next to an access driveway for the adjacent MetroWest Regional Transit Authority bus facility.
If approved, the project will add to a growing list of larger residential developments in downtown Framingham.
Alta Union House, a 196-unit apartment building across Concord Street from Downtown Common, a 16-unit building at 68 South St. and a 270-unit project called Modera Framingham at 266 Waverly St. are all underway.
Other approved projects include a 60-unit project on Kendall Street, a 75-unit development at Union and Proctor streets, and 250-plus units at 59 Fountain St.
The Planning Board has scheduled a public hearing Thursday on a marijuana dispensary from Temescal Wellness for a shop in a multi-tenant retail building at 665 Cochituate Road (Route 30). Temescal received state approval last week for pot shops in two other communities, Hudson and Pittsfield. The Framingham project joins another recently proposed marijuana shop, in a vacant restaurant building at 250 Worcester Road.
Another hearing will be held for a proposed conversion of a five-story, 72,000 square-foot office building on the Southborough line at 15 Pleasant St. Connector into storage units.
