To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, a Framingham company specializing in apps and games based on movies, TV and literature has launched a gaming app based on the science fiction series.
The strategy role-playing game called Star Trek Timelines brings together all 50 years of the series into one app, according to Disruptor Beam, the company responsible for the app. Players can explore the galaxy and command starships with the help of a crew of their favorite characters, according to the company's website. Disruptor Beam specializes in tying users into the world of television, literature and movies with their applications, which are available for both iPhone and Android.
The company has released other licensed games, including Game of Thrones Ascent, which grew to over 12 million players.
