Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc. has named former Flagship Bank head James C. Garvey president and CEO of its northern California affiliate Borel Private Bank & Trust Co.
Garvey was previously president and CEO of Boston Private's Pacific Northwest affiliate, Charter Private Bank.
For eight years beginning in 1999, Garvey was president and CEO of Flagship Bank & Trust Co. in Worcester.
Flagship was bought in 2008 as part of Bridgeport, Conn.-based Peoples United Bank's acquisition of Chittenden Corp. of Vermont.
After the acquisition, Timothy Crimmins took over as head of Flagship, which has since changed its name to Peoples United. Crimmins is the founder of the Bank of Western Massachusetts, which was also part of Peoples United's Chittenden acquisition.
