Flash Poll: Mandate sick time? (Slight) majority says no
One of the four referendum questions on November's ballot (Question 4) would guarantee up to 40 hours of sick time a year to visit a doctor or care for a sick family member. Employees who work at companies with at least 11 employees would be paid for that time off. Proponents say nearly a million Bay State workers are at risk of losing their jobs because they don't have paid sick time. But opponents say passage of the question will cause job losses and amounts to government meddling in small businesses' operations. A slim majority of voters in our Flash Poll for the week of July 7 came out against the question.
