In an effort to reduce redundancy between classes taken at the high school and college level, Fitchburg State University said Monday it will now allow students from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fitchburg to transfer up to six credits to replace a foundation education class at the college.
Eligible students will have received a B or higher in their early childhood education career pathway levels, and the credits may be used to cover foundations of inclusive education and designing environments for young children at Fitchburg State, according to a press release. The credita will be accepted for four years after the student graduates from Monty Tech.
“This agreement recognizes the caliber of early childhood education preparation occurring at Monty Tech and will give students a head start on their collegiate aspirations,” Fitchburg State President Richard Lapidus said in a press release.
Administrators from both schools agreed to the deal after reviewing course objectives between classes at both Monty Tech and Fitchburg State. The articulation agreement codifying the announcement is effective immediately and will be reviewed in three years.
