The latest machine from Hologic that has been approved for commercial use by the FDA could help doctors fight breast cancer by combining 3d technology with better access to the patient.
The Affirm prone biopsy system is the first dedicated prone biopsy system to offer both 2D and 3D imaging-guided breast biopsies. It fills the need for a minimally invasive stereotactic breast biopsy combined with the company’s 3d technology, and the prone position that allows radiologists to better target lesions found during the exams, according to a release from Marlborough-based Hologic.
This new product also features a streamlined workflow with increased automation designed to make using the system fast and easy.
The system is now available for order in the U.S.
