Commuter rail trains headed into Boston from Worcester will be stopped at the Wellesley Farms station starting Friday night and running through the weekend.
The MBTA is arranging for buses to bring inbound passengers from Wellesley to Boston's South Station and Back Bay station, along with the Newton stop. No service will be provided by rail or bus at the Yawkey Station in Boston.
Outbound passengers, those headed into Worcester, will have to board buses from South Station, Back Bay, Newtonville, West Newton and Auburndale to be taken to the Wellesley Farms stop.
Construction work will stop commuter trails along the Framingham/Worcester line from 8:30 p.m. Friday through the end of the day Sunday.
Passengers should allow for additional travel time and anticipate delays of about 20 to 30 minutes, MBTA said.
Keolis Commuter Services, the operator of the commuter rail system, will be replacing thousands of rail tines along the Framingham/Worcester line, which is the system's second busiest and third longest.
Other work will continue past this weekend, including anticipated delays in the daily 8:40 a.m. train, known as Train 512, out of Worcester. That run will be delayed until 9 a.m. for the duration of the project expected to last through the first week of June. That work will typically take place on off-peak hours Tuesdays through Sundays, MBTA said.
Trains may experience delays of up to 15 minutes due to that work.
