Wood Partners, a national multifamily real estate firm based in Georgia, has announced the beginning of construction on Alta French Hill, a 276-unit upscale apartment community in Marlborough.
Pre-leasing opportunities are expected to be available in 2024, with the first residents being moved into the building in February 2025, according to a Tuesday press release issued by the company. The property is located at 303 Lincoln St., approximately a three-minute drive from the closest exit to Route 495.
"Massachusetts has a housing shortage and we need new housing of all types," Ed Augustus, secretary of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, said in the press release. "The 276 apartment homes in this collaborative enterprise by Wood Partners, Marcus Partners and the city of Marlborough will provide a much-needed boost to housing in a key area of the city.”
Alta French Hill will include a variety of apartment styles, ranging one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments. The project includes 28 affordable housing units, which will help the city comply with the MBTA Communities Law, a 2021 law that requires transit-adjacent communities to create more multifamily housing.
The project is being financially backed by construction lender Eastern Bank and equity partner Marcus Partners, according to the release.
Alta French Hill was first proposed by Wood Partners in May 2022. The company has also built apartments in a number of other Central Massachusetts communities.
