Chronicle sold to Holden Landmark

The Holden-based Holden Landmark Corp. expects to buy the Millbury-Sutton Chronicle, a weekly newspaper with paid circulation below 3,000.

Holden and the Belisle family, which launched the Chronicle in 1986, say the deal should close April 30. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Chronicle Editor Andree Belisle said now is the time to turn over the paper "to a younger, more energetic team who will take the paper into the 21st century."

Holden plans to expand the Chronicle's coverage, and launch a Chronicle web site.

Holden Landmark also publishes the Landmark; the Community Journal; the Leominster Champion; the free weekly Fitchburg Pride; and Bay State Parent magazine.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cracked Rock Media Inc.
