CEOs Confident About Future

The Conference Board's Index of CEO Confidence increased 1.5 percent from the third to the fourth quarter of 2009.

The fourth quarter's index came in at 64, up from 63 in the third quarter of 2009. That figure is up from 24 a year ago.

A reading of more than 50 points reflects more positive than negative responses for economic confidence.

75 percent of CEOs reported that economic conditions have improved compared to six months ago.

CEOs also are looking to the future positively, with 54 percent expecting economic conditions to improve during the next half-year.

Surveyed CEOs stated they expect prices to increase for their products by an average of 1.6 percent in 2010.
