Unemployment rates in the geographic regions of Central Massachusetts tracked by the state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) were all down in November compared to a year ago, the agency said.
The largest year-over-year drop in unadjusted unemployment rates was in northern Worcester County, where the rate fell to 8.2 percent from 8.7 percent a year ago, but ticked up from 8.1 percent in October. The twin cities region is among those gaining the most jobs over the past year. In November, 65,588 people were working in the region, up from 64,937 a year ago.
In the Worcester metropolitan area, which contains much of central and southern Worcester County, the unemployment rate fell to 6.7 percent from 6.9 percent a year ago. Over the month, the rate was down slightly from 6.8 percent.
And in the Framingham area, the rate fell to 4.6 percent from 4.7 percent a year ago, and from 4.9 percent in October.
Statewide, the unadjusted rate was 6.1 percent, down a tenth of a point from October and three-tenths of a point over the year. The unadjusted rates reflect seasonal fluctuations and may show different trends, the EOLWD said.
