Boston Scientific sees success in incontinence product testing

Boston Scientific said Wednesda testing of a new urinary incontinence product has been successful.
The Marlborough company said testing during a three-year study of 281 women met all its primary and secondary endpoints. The product, its Solyx Single Incision Sling, or SIS, system, is aimed at treating stress urinary incontinence, an involuntary loss of urine during physical activity, such as coughing, laughing or lifting.
The condition, known as SUI, affects 18 million adults in the United States, 85 percent of which are women, according to Boston Scientific. Half of women over 65 report SUI symptoms, which can have a significant effect on daily life, the company said.
The just-completed study is one of three surveillance studies Boston Scientific will complete, with further data expected next year.
