Boston-area Consumer Prices Fall 0.1 Percent

The Boston-Brockton-Nashua area consumer price index fell 0.1 percent from May to July, driven by a drop in gasoline prices, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Over the two months, gas prices fell 5.6 percent. Food eaten at home had the biggest increase, at 1 percent.

Year-over-year, the CPI rose 3.4 percent. The biggest upward push came from a 38.2 percent increase in the price of gas.
