Bose moving into Boston as CEO leaves Framingham firm

Framingham tech giant Bose Corp. will lease 98,000 square feet at Boston Landing in Boston's Brighton neighborhood, the site’s development group announced this week, while at the same time the company's CEO is saying he will leave the company at the end of the year.

NB Development Group, a commercial real estate company developing a 1.76 million-square-foot commercial site along the Mass Pike, announced the lease near the New Balance headquarters in Boston.

“We are excited to welcome Bose, a global company that is headquartered locally and recognized for their technology and innovation, to Boston Landing,” said Jim Halliday, managing director at NB Development Group. “The Bose transaction brings our 80 Guest St. property to near 100-percent leased and puts its imprint on the transformative nature and innovative spirit that is Boston Landing as the western gateway into Boston.”

A Bose spokesperson could not be reached for comment, but several media sources cited a spokeswoman who said the company would not leave its Framingham headquarters.

Bose joins New Balance, practice areas for the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, Harvard Business School Publishing, Global Atlantic, a hotel, a multi-sport event center, apartments and other companies.

The news comes as CEO Bob Maresca told tech publication CNet he would be stepping down on Dec. 31. President Phil Hess will add CEO to his title to fill Maresca’s role.

There has been no formal announcement on either piece of news from the company, even though the company was informed in June of Maresca’s intention to step down, CNet reported.

Maresca will remain chairman of the company’s board and a trustee of the corporation.
