BlueHive Strategic Environments designs, builds, and manages trade show exhibit properties for companies involved with 3D branded marketing. The Worcester company added a new digital marketing department last year and plans to grow its manufacturing workforce.
Amadeus Finlay, BlueHive’s director of public relations, spoke about goals for the next year and the advantage of being in Worcester.
You make creative displays for company trade shows. What does that mean? What kinds of things do you make?
We create customized trade show exhibit properties for companies engaged in 3D, branded marketing. This means we design, build and manage the entire program, from inception to delivery. Our extensive in-house capacities allows us to produce the majority of the work right here in Worcester, from the conceptualization and creative strategy, all the way to woodwork and vinyl printing.
Is that a consistently busy market, or one that fluctuates a lot throughout the year?
It fluctuates throughout the year, with a fairly consistent pattern to that annual calendar year-on-year. But that’s the nature of the business.
What does your digital marketing department do, and how does it complement your signature products?
The complementary nature was the very reason we launched the agency in the first place. We found that trade show clients were increasingly including video in their exhibits, and using social media to support and promote these endeavors. To make the process more streamlined, we brought these services in-house, allowing us to achieve everything from the physical to the digital. As a result, BlueHive Media is involved in a wide variety of services, with social media, video production and graphic design/rebranding the department’s flagship offerings.
What are your goals for the next year?
We have had our best two years yet, back-to-back, and we aim to continue that growth. As ever, it’s critical to continue delivering exceptional client management to maintain our existing base and allow them to plan for the future. Outside that, we are excited to see how BlueHive Media continues to develop. It’s very exciting for us.
How many of your employees are in manufacturing? Are you looking to grow that number?
Approximately 45 individuals and yes, we absolutely are. We are particularly interested in skilled young workers who can help take us forward into the next generation. Feel free to contact us to see if you fit the bill.
Why is Worcester a good place for a company like yours?
Worcester has long been known as a manufacturing hub, and since we are under local ownership, it was a no-brainer to continue in this tradition. Certainly, the city isn’t as heavy in manufacturing as it once was, but since we aren’t going anywhere, we are proud to be part of this tradition and to ensure it continues for years to come. As for the local populace, we have been incredibly fortunate to find a team of exceptional minds in and around Worcester, and for that reason we look to local youth to bring us to the next stage.
