Financial activities increased by 47,000 jobs, or 0.6 percent.

Industries with downward revisions were manufacturing, with 25,000 jobs, or 0.2 percent, lost, and professional and business services, which lost 14,000 jobs, or 0.1 percent. Government saw the biggest drop, with a decrease of 67,000 jobs, or 0.3 percent.

The BLS will release its final benchmark revision on Feb. 1.
