In an effort to recruit both potential scouts and their parents, the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts has launched its first-ever TV commercial.
Filmed over three days at the Worcester EcoTarium, Camp Bonnie Brae in the Berkshires and Camp Lewis Perkins in South Hadley, the ad campaign, with its accompanying video and website, aims to reach out to parents concerned about their kids growing up too fast, according to the Girl Scouts.
The message of the "Time Well Spent" campaign is that becoming a Girl Scout troop leader gives parents an opportunity to spend quality time with their children, "building strong bonds and giving them a solid foundation to handle the media-saturated world they'll enter soon enough."
To reach both parents and girls, the ads will be running on a variety of channels, including Lifetime, Nickelodeon, ESPN, Food Network and E!.
The new website www.yourtimewellspent.org, offers resources for those interested in becoming members or volunteers.
