When Dennis Guberski was looking for a facility to locate his budding biotech company that raises genetically engineered animals for other biotech and drug companies, he got a lot of assistance even though he didn't land in an MBI incubator.
"Kevin (O'Sullivan) is really an operations guy. He got all the decision makers in one room for us: bankers, city officials and from that after talking to us, they all decided they would help make it all happen," he said.

The company didn't locate in the incubator because they needed more space to raise the genetically engineered animals, but the various people that Guberski met with through the incubator helped identify a good building for them.
Biomedical Research Models was able to get financing for the building and its necessary retrofitting, and was able to quickly get answers to building code questions due to the contacts that were made initially, he said.
The company was able to use the incubator in an emergency though after animals it had raised for a large drug company came down with an unrelated pathogen during experiments, he said.
Biomedical Research Models was able to remove the animals to the incubator space, get rid of the pathogen from the company's research area and reintroduce the animals, he said. This allowed the drug company to save three to six months during which it would have been necessary to stop the experiment, Guberski said.
O'Sullivan has also asked Guberski to help with incubator tenants now and then.
"He'll say, he you can work with this guy? Small companies starting out are many times clueless just as I was," he said, adding that he enjoys working with new entrepreneurs.
