Bernie’s Audio Video TV Appliances Co., which operates a store in Auburn, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be closing its 15 stores in the Northeast.
The Enfield, Conn.-based family-owned company has requested permission from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Connecticut to conduct a going out of business sale in which all products will be sold at up to 50 percent off. Hilco Merchant Resources will manage the sale.
The company operates nine stores in Connecticut, another in Rhode Island and five in Massachusetts, including the Auburn location at 470 Southbridge Rd. The store sells audio and video electronics as well as home furnishings.
