Anna Maria will construct a $2.5-million athletic field.
Anna Maria College in Paxton will construct a $2.5-million multipurpose athletic and baseball field.
The project will be led by landscape architecture firm Derck & Edson, LLC, which is based in Pennsylvania, according to Anna Maria’s Wednesday press release announcing the project. Construction plans are about to move to the development phase.
“Athletics are an integral part of the Anna Maria education,” said President Mary Lou Retelle, in the press release. “They unite the community in the stands and on the field and enhance the competitive experience for student athletes.”
Anna Maria is an NCAA Division III school for sports.
Assumption College in Worcester is also constructing a new $2.6-million athletic facility, which will include a turf soccer and softball field.
