The site of Amazon’s DTB2 distribution center at 125 Goddard Memorial Dr. sold on Thursday for $52 million, about one year after the e-commerce giant announced it would move into a second location in Worcester.
The property has had a transformative year. It was formerly the site of Swiss electric company TE Connectivity before Burlington-based real estate firm R.J. Kelly Co. bought it in September 2020 for $7.2 million.
R.J. Kelly brought forward the plans to convert the property into a 177,000-square-foot Amazon facility. Amazon announced it had signed a lease at 125 Goddard Memorial in December 2020.
On Thursday, the Burlington company sold the center for more than seven times what it paid for the property, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds. The buyer was Tritower Financial Group, LLC, a real estate investment and management firm in Boston.
The Goddard Memorial center is about 56,000 square feet larger than the planned Amazon warehouse as the former Greendale Mall in Worcester.
It is located across the road from a five-acre industrial lot which sold for nearly $10 million earlier this month to a New York real estate company.
