AdCare Hospital in Worcester has named Andrea Dayotas its new chief operating officer. Dayotas assumes the leadership role at the addiction and mental health treatment center after 5 years at AdCare, most recently as executive director of inpatient services.

Dayotas has a background in both clinical work and business, and has worked in both inpatient hospital and outpatient settings, according to a Wednesday press release from AdCare. This is a new position at the hospital.

"When people read the title of chief operating officer, you tend to lean on healthcare administration and more of a business perspective first. Whereas for Andrea, she understands the business aspect and the patient experience, giving her a unique perspective to enhance the quality of services we provide for our patients," said AdCare Hospital CEO, Brian Stoesz in the press release.

Stoesz joined the hospital as CEO in May.

In her expanded role, Dayotas is developing intensive outpatient programs, including a program for those with co-occurring conditions, a trauma-informed care program, and a program for LGBTQ+ patients.

Dayotas joined the mental health and addiction based on personal experience seeing a family member in recovery, according to the press release. Her mother received addiction treatment at an AdCare facility.

“My mom is celebrating more than nine years in recovery this year, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how this has changed the trajectory of her life and impacted our family,” said Dayotas in the press release. “That’s why I'm passionate about addiction treatment and committed to making a difference in the lives of our patients who entrust AdCare with their care and recovery.”

Dayotas holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in educational psychology from Rhode Island College in Providence, as well as a certificate in health care economics from Harvard Business School Online.
