Elizabeth L.B. Greene was awarded the Heart of Gold Award by The American Heart Association, based in Worcester. Greene, a partner at Worcester-based law firm Mirick O'Connell and a resident of Southborough, founded the association's Central Massachusetts Division Board of Directors 15 years ago.
Clifford Avey Jr. was honored as the 2013 Marlborough Heritage Hero at City Hall, with an award presented by Mayor Arthur Vigeant and Susanne Morreale Leeber, president and CEO of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce. Avey served as city treasurer for 22 years and as manager of St. Mary's Credit Union for many years, where he is still a director.
Berkshire Bank, with offices in Westborough, was named the Silver Winner in internal marketing and overall philanthropy for its asset category by the New England Financial Marketing Association. The bank was recognized for its America's Most Exciting Bank University internal program as well as its employee volunteer program.
Anna Maria College's online MBA program with a specialization in sport management was ranked as one of the top 20 MBA programs in the country by TheBestSchools.org.
BJ's Wholesale Club, based in Northborough, donated $7,500 to The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, based in Worcester. The contribution was part of nearly $165,500 that BJ's donated to 22 Bay State organizations recently.
Boucher Energy Systems of Mendon won a COOL SMART award for energy efficiency — its fifth — from the New England Air Conditioning Contractors of America. COOL SMART is an energy-efficient air conditioning rebate program for residential customers of National Grid and other utilities.
Vincent Antil, GIS manager for The Trustees of Reservations in Leominster, was recognized for 15 years of service. Antil received his award at the organization's annual meeting. He is based out of The Trustees Doyle Center and Community Park in Leominster.
