Crystal Caves, Mirick O'Connell, Janice Girard and South High Community School in Worcester were presented with awards by Worcester-based nonprofit Children's Friend. Crystal Caves, based in Auburn, received the Children's Friend Award. The law firm of Mirick O'Connell received the H. Waite Hurlburt Award for outstanding contribution. Girard, director of the nonprofit's School Age Mothers Program, was honored as Employee of the Year; and South High Community School, represented by Principal Maureen Binienda, was recognized for students' volunteer work.
Sarah Gustafson was recognized with the Coldwell Banker International Sterling Society Award, given to the top 14 percent of approximately 82,200 sales associates worldwide in the Coldwell Banker system. A Webster resident, Gustafson is a sales associate in the Sturbridge office.
Bedford-based Rectrix Aviation's fixed-based operations (FBO) services were ranked among the best in the nation in an Aviation International News survey. Rectrix's FBO at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport was named among the top 10 in the nation, tying for 7th place. Later this year, Rectrix will break ground for a new, similar facility at Worcester Regional Airport.
Worcester-based Kinefac Corp. was honored with the Diplomat's Award from The Associated Industries of Massachusetts International Business Council. Each year, the council recognizes Massachusetts firms that have demonstrated excellence in international trade. Kinefac is a precision metal forming and processing technology company.
Dr. Marianne E. Felice, the former physician-in-chief of Worcester-based UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center, has been honored by the Massachusetts Medical Society as the recipient of its first Woman Physician Leadership Award. Dr. Felice is also professor of pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology and is the former chair of the department of pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She will receive her award at a ceremony this fall.
The United Way of Tri-County, based in Framingham, recently gave awards to TJX Cos., Debbie Beausoleil, Timothy Flanagan and Gerry Gaw. A Summit Award goes to TJX, based in Framingham, the parent company of Marshalls, TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. Beausoleil, 85, won the MetroWest/495 Corridor Volunteer of the Year Award for her work at Marlborough Senior Center. Flanagan, president of Framingham State University, won the President's Award. Gaw, the former superintendent of the Clinton Public Schools, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Tom Devoe of Murphy Insurance Agency in Marlborough was chosen as a PaceSetter, a select group of State Auto independent agents, to help work with other agents to improve customer service. State Auto operates in 43 states.
Charter of Worcester, a video, Internet and phone service provider, was recognized by the Greater Worcester Employment Resource Collaborative for leadership in hiring workers with disabilities. The recognition breakfast was held May 1 at Worcester Technical High School.
Alberta Saffell Bell and Paula d'Entremont were honored by the Gardner-based House of Peace & Education at its Celebrating Women Benefit Event last month. Bell has served on a number of boards and supported many local organizations over the years. Since its inception in 1994, d'Entremont has been involved with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Jill C. Dagilis was honored by Worcester State University May 5 for her community leadership. She is executive director of Worcester Community Action Council and an alumna of the university. She also serves on its board of directors. Dagilis led the Worcester vocational school project and was the first woman to serve as Worcester's commissioner of code enforcement and commissioner of health and human services.
Saint-Gobain, the global building materials manufacturer with operations in Central Massachusetts, received the European Cleantech Corporation of the Year Award at the 9th European Cleantech Forum in Bilbao, Spain, for promoting innovation in green technology and environmentally friendly products and services.
Uxbridge-based Blissful Meadows Golf Club was named a winner in The Knot Best of Weddings, a special section on wedding planning website TheKnot.com. This is the third year the club has received such an honor from the website.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute maintained its accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The accreditation is earned by fewer than 5 percent of business programs worldwide, according to WPI.
Joleen J. Rose of ERA Key Realty Services of Millis was honored at the company's annual meeting with multiple awards, including the ERA Leader's Circle Award. She was the No. 8 agent in the company for top units sold, No. 4 for sales volume, and No. 5 for Top All-Around Agent.
