Accolades & Honors: April 28, 2014

Athena Haddon, director of the Everyday Miracles Peer Recovery Support Center, was named the 2014 Woman of Consequence by the City of Worcester. The center is supported by Spectrum Health System, and located on Pleasant Street in Worcester.

Jason D. Main, a financial advisor at Southbridge Savings Bank, was recognized as a top advisor and named to the Patriot's Club by LPL Financial LLC. LPL Financial provides investment services to Southbridge Savings Bank customers.

Paul Lynskey, executive director of the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation, received a citation from the Massachusetts Senate for his organization's work in better preparing students for workforce needs.

Fitchburg State University was recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for its work creating green transportation solutions. The Pacesetter Award for Excellence in Commuter Options was awarded at a ceremony March 26 at Fenway Park.

UMass Medical School's Disability Evaluation Services was recognized for helping people with mental illness reenter the workforce at the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition's 15th Annual Employer Awards Celebration. The event was held at the State House on April 9. The Genesis Club of Worcester selected the group for the award.

Bancroft School in Worcester honored James W. Coghlin Sr., president of Worcester-based Coghlin Cos., with The Robert W. Stoddard Award for Outstanding Community Service, for cancer awareness efforts and charitable contributions; Holden Police Chief George R. Sherrill for his leadership, with The Esther Forbes Award for Distinguished Professional Achievement; Nicolina A. Puccio, head of Bancroft's foreign languages department, with The Milton P. Higgins Award for Distinguished Service to the school; and Hallie Goldberg Johnston with the Young Alumni Achievement Award for career accomplishments since graduating from Bancroft.

Diana Lados, associate professor of mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, won the 2014 Ralph R. Teetro Educational Award by SAE International, a global engineering association; and a Brimacombe Medal from the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society. n
