Lismarie Collazo, 36
Director of marketing & community outreach
Southbridge Credit Union, Sturbridge
Residence: Southbridge
Birthplace: Puerto Rico
Colleges: Emmanuel College, Worcester State University & Universidad Inter-Americana de Puerto Rico
Collazo’s 14 years at SCU have been spent doing a little bit of everything. Even now, with a defined role, her hands are in several baskets at once. As director of marketing and community outreach, she manages the financial institution’s marketing program while being the only certified financial literacy coordinator. She runs an in-school branch out of Bay Path High School in Charlton where she teaches about financial responsibility. She was a developer of the Reality Fairs at the school, which aim to teach students real-world financial skills. She’s one of Central Massachusetts’ only certified bilingual trainer in personal finance and spends countless hours through the nonprofit Catholic Charities and other organizations working with underserved community members to teach them about saving, balancing a checkbook, credit and budgeting, now reaching more than 500 people. She serves on the board for the Tri-Community YMCA in Southbridge and on the budget committee of the United Way of Southbridge, Sturbridge and Charlton. – Profile by Zachary Comeau
Which four people would you like to travel with for a year? My daughter, Isabella, because adventures are better with her at my side; she’s my ride or die. Wonder Woman because I often have to get into my Wonder Woman mindset to take on anything that comes my way. My soul mate, whoever that may be, because life is meant to be shared. Channing Tatum because eye candy on this trip is a must. Don’t judge.
What would you say to a new SCU intern? You don’t have to be crazy to work here, we’ll train you. (insert laughing emoji)
