$33.6M Awarded To Cities and Towns

Gov. Deval Patrick was in Milford this morning to announce that 68 communities will divvy up $33.6 million in federal Community Development Block Grants.

The funds are intended for infrastructure improvements, housing and business development and social services.

In total, Central Massachusetts communities are in line to receive $9.1 million.

Milford will receive $934,291 for street and sidewalk upgrades and to fund its housing rehabilitation program. Ashby will receive $802,179 for road paving and housing rehabilitation.

Bellingham will rehabilitate 18 residential properties with its grant of $800,515. And Webster will use $1 million to update six storefronts and improve a park and municipal parking lot.
