President and CEO, Emerge Marketing Inc. and ShopLocalMA.com, Shrewsbury
Birthplace: Portsmouth, Va.
Residence: Shrewsbury
High school: Concord High School, Concord, N.H.
College and degree earned: Bachelor’s degree, University of New Hampshire
Career highlights: Launching my own marketing and PR firm and seeing my longtime vision of ShopLocalMA come to fruition were the scariest and most thrilling points of my career.
Community involvement: Chairperson for 11th annual Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services gala; elected Town Meeting member in Shrewsbury; communications manager for state Rep. Hannah Kane; host committee for “A Celebration in the Garden,” benefitting Shrewsbury Public Schools.
Ultimate career goal: To maximize ShopLocalMA’s reach and initiate a foundation arm to award business grants to local entrepreneurs.
Non-relative you admire most: I have a pretty serious affinity for Sir Richard Branson. He stays true to himself and what’s important in life. The other is Richard Calvert, my former boss and CEO of Destination Weddings Travel Group.
Favorite book: “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” (signed by the late Stephen Covey)
Hidden talents: Power editor. I can almost always spot a grammatical mistake and can rarely let it go. It’s totally annoying to most people I know. #sorrynotsorry
“By the time I turn 50, I’d like to have accomplished … traveling to every continent and seeing my kids graduate from college.”
