BRANCH MANAGER, MBA Mortgaga Corp.
Company location: Athol
Residence: Rutland
Favorite movie: "Scarface"
Career highlights: In an effort to gain a more in-depth and tangible knowledge of the mortgage industry, I earned the certified mortgage planning specialist designation in 2006. I am particularly proud that I have received commendations from nonprofits that I have worked with, including the United Way and Wachusett Chamber of Commerce.
Community involvement: I'm past president of the Rotary Club of the Athol-Orange Area. I also received an award within Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow in 2010. I serve on the board of the North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the finance committee. I'm the secretary of the Rutland Business Association and also serve as an area board member of the Department of Children & Families.
Biggest success: I have been working primarily in the Gardner, Athol, and Orange markets. I have worked in some of the hardest-hit areas economically, especially in real estate and finance, and still managed to create great relationships that have helped me to serve the people of these areas.
Biggest challenge: I work in a small market, which can make the demands of overhead and payroll difficult. The declining job market, decline in housing prices, and new and evolving industry regulations have also contributed to declines in revenue, which leads to working harder and longer and being selective with expenditures.
Mentors: My mother has always been my best mentor. She has routinely shown me that hard work, sacrifice, discipline and planning are the keys to success. She made sure that I always knew to treat others well and to reward others for their hard work. Professionally, Jeffrey Gitomer has helped me learn how to best present myself, communicate value and set up my business for continued success.
Hidden talent: I enjoy making my own wine, as well as cooking and experimenting with a wide range of food.
