Career highlights: Never feeling fulfilled while working in corporate America, I decided to turn my passion for health and fitness into a career and Adventure Boot Camp was born. It’s my goal to inspire each individual to discover his/her inner athlete.

Community involvement: This past fall I coached a team of 12 employees from Worcester’s Department of Public Works and Parks in the city’s Biggest Loser Contest. With a little sweat — OK, a lot of sweat — and some positive lifestyle changes, these men lost more than 200 pounds, winning both the team and individual competitions. Whether it’s volunteering my time as a coach, running boot-camp fundraisers, speaking at my alma mater on Career Day or helping out at my son’s preschool, I believe part of being healthy is promoting a positive environment around you.

Biggest success: Seeing my former clients in casual situations and learning that they are still practicing the fitness and nutritional habits they learned while being part of Adventure Boot Camp is success for me.

Biggest challenge: Maintaining and growing the business during the economic downturn. People have a hard time focusing on themselves and their healthy lifestyles when they may be having trouble in the workplace. My daily challenge is to encourage them to take care of themselves. It’s not about weight or what size you wear, when you take care of your body and fuel it properly, you feel strong, positive and are better able to handle stress and care for those around you.

Mentor: I’ve always been athletic, but my sister, Karen, introduced me to weights. I remember her talking about how it made her feel, seeing her results and listening to her excitement. In 2001, we started working together. We were raised to work hard, but Karen taught me how to run a business.

Hidden talent: I just completed my first half-Iron Man Triathlon so I don’t know if that’s a hidden talent, or makes me conspicuously crazy.
