Matthew Clark
Age: 39
Title: President & CEO
Company: TMC Services Inc.
Company location: Bellingham
Residence: Mendon
College: Bridgewater State College
Career highlights: I’m the president and CEO of a firm that provides environmental remediation services to clients throughout the Northeastern United States. My current day-to-day responsibilities vary markedly from those with which I originally started. At the ripe old age of 25 with a fresh degree in Chemistry in hand, my brother and I began the business out of the sheer need to establish ourselves in the marketplace. Our strengths lay within the environmental services area from previous employ and we started with that as our foundation.
Born of parents who owned and ran various contracting and property development businesses, Tom and I managed to learn many business lessons along the way to adulthood. It’s exactly those business lessons that have landed TMC where it is today. My primary focus at TMC is recruiting, mentoring and retaining the best people I can for our organization. I also oversee many of the larger deal structures that our team negotiates daily.
Community involvement: At a very young age, I began my journey into community service as a conservation commissioner for the town of Bellingham where I was introduced to public service.
For a time, I made my roots back to my childhood place of worship and served as junior warden with Christ Church of Medway. Currently I am involved as a committee member and sponsor with charity events for the Milford Regional Medical Center. Our company has adopted many local charities such as Adopt a Family and Make A Wish Foundation. Recently I called for the formation of a committee in our company to manage community involvement and sustainability within the cities and towns in which we operate.
Biggest professional success: Undoubtedly, the highlight of my career lives in the existence of my team of talented professionals at TMC Services Inc. From a startup organization of just a few to today, we boast four service centers servicing the Northeastern United States and an incredible team of more than 65 full-time and 25 part-time professionals.
Dream job: Assuming the need to make a living was off the table, I would like to be part of an international NGO working on improving the well-being of the truly disadvantaged and impoverished by utilizing my knowledge of the environment and construction.
Businessperson he admires most and why: My Dad. In spite of all the adversity he faced in life, he persevered.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do? I would train for and compete in the Ironman in Hawaii.
Favorite movie: Casablanca. Deep down I’m a hopeless romantic.
