Kerri Martinek
Age: 34
Title: Founder & Marketing Consultant
Company: Small Pond Marketing
Company location: Marlborough
Residence: Marlborough
College: University of New Hampshire and Babson College
Career highlights: Prior to Small Pond Marketing (SPM), I worked at several startup companies building marketing programs from the ground up. I learned very quickly how to stretch marketing dollars on shoestring budgets and taught myself various technical skills to save money.
I later founded SPM because I knew I had the experience, the skills and the passion to really help small business owners bring their vision to life.
Community involvement: I’m currently the president of the Junior League of Worcester, a volunteer organization of women committed to improving the lives of women and children in the Worcester community.
Biggest professional success: Whenever I start working with an organization that has nothing more than a logo and the will to succeed, and by the time I am finished, it has a customized web site, a consistent brand strategy, professional looking marketing materials, an organized contact database and calendar full of marketing/PR initiatives.
Dream job: To write a series of books that are either comical, business-related or both.
Businessperson she admires most and why: I most admire my father because he paid his own way through school and worked hard to get to the top of his field. Once he got there, he never lost sight of the importance of treating others kindly and fairly.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do? I would become more entrenched professionally in the nonprofit sector, specifically with an organization that provides services for children.
